Over the weekend, the parish council planted a new Cherry tree in memory of Cassie. Frequent visitors to the playing field will be familiar with Cassie’s tree near to Victoria Court and may have noticed the tree has not been looking well for some time. With permission of Cassie’s family, the parish council bought a fruiting Cherry tree, ‘Sunburst’ variety. The tree flowers in April (Cassie’s birth month) and will produce fruit in July/August. This tree is the first to be planted in the area of the playing field (near the Oak) that will gradually become a community orchard over the next 12 months.
